FORMER Spice Girl Geri Halliwell has signed up to star in an Irish-made animation based on the books by children's laureate Niamh Sharkey.
The 'Henry Hugglemonster' cartoon was developed by Brown Bag Films in Dublin and has been bought by Disney.
The TV adaptation follows the adventures of five-year-old monster Henry.
Mother-of-one Halliwell has joined the cast and will lend her vocals to Isabella Roarsome, a monster pop star.
While the 40-year-old 'Ginger Spice' will only sing in one episode, she will growl in almost every scene.
Sascha Paladino, head writer of 'Henry Hugglemonster', told the Irish Independent that while it was "an intimidating prospect" asking Halliwell to roar, she surpassed all expectations.
"We always knew we wanted the character to be a larger than life and Geri really is perfect.
"The main thing for Isabella is to do a lot of roaring, so we had to create a unique voice for her and every aspect had to push the 'monsterness'."
Halliwell told of her delight to be involved: "The show has a truly positive message, teaching kids to be themselves and reminding them of the importance of family values.
"What's more, it's been so lovely to share this exper-ience with my own daughter, who helped me learn the songs for my role as Isabella," she added.
Brown Bag chief executive Cathal Gaffney said the 52 episodes have been three years in the making and will be screened by Disney Junior UK from February 8.
"We're very proud of it," Gaffney said. "It's great to see an Irish project bought for worldwide distribution."
