The Love/Hate crew are up to their usual antics, but this time it's the girls who are painting the town red.

Filming for season five of the hit crime drama kicked off this week, and all eyes were on Ballymun, where the stars were filming at The Towers pub.

Our picture shows Trish and Charlie Murphy who plays Siobhan on a night out on the town where they were snapped downing vodka and stumbling out of a taxi for a scene.

Aoibhinn McGinnity's character was glammed up in a zebra-print bandeau dress with neon yellow jacket and has returned to her brown roots.

Also seen on the set was Peter Coonan, who plays Fran and Tom Vaughan Lawlor, who plays crime kingpin Nidge.

The actors spent a large portion of the day filming outside the pub, and they also shot some outdoors scenes in an adjacent car park later that night.

Crowds of excited children gathered in a bid to catch a glimpse of some of the country's most loved actors as they made their way around the set.

Cast members have only been given scripts during the past few weeks in the hope that the move will prevent storylines leaking to the press.

However, it has been revealed the season will focus on gardai pursuing crime boss Nidge.

Meanwhile, Actor Laurence Kinlan had to take a quick baby break from the set after he became a father for the second time.

The star, who plays Elmo, announced the arrival of Ollie on Twitter yesterday, writing that he was in tears when he met his son for the first time.

"My baby son Ollie was born at 9.47am this morning," he wrote. "Mammy and baby are doing great. Daddy is filming and can't wait to leave set to see him."

Laurence has been with his wife Charlene for more than 15 years, and they already have a son, Oren (6).

Supportive messages flooded in on Twitter, and director Lenny Abrahamson led the good wishes to Laurence, from The Liberties, writing, "Huge congratulations".
