'FAME' winner Jessica Cervi last night received a hero's welcome from friends and family after her victory on the hit show.

The ambitious young starlet was feted by a large group of wellwishers in her native East Wall, Dublin, before she embarks on a countrywide tour of the musical with fellow singer Ben Morris.

On Sunday night the two singers battled it out in the final with Sarah O'Connor and Sean Carey to win the chance to play Nick and Serena in a forthcoming stage production of the musical.

And the winners will now each spend six months touring the country in the production.

Speaking after her win, an emotional Jessica said: "I can't believe it. I just want to thank every single person who believed in me."

Her co-star Ben also thanked everyone who voted for him.

The search for the roles started in April, and the eight-week series, broadcast live at the Helix, helped state broadcaster RTE see off competition from rival station TV3 on Sunday nights.
