Irish businesses could be getting a takeover from publisher Norah Casey.

RTE last night confirmed that the former 'Dragons' Den' star has been hired to front a six-part series in which she offers advice and guidance to struggling companies.

The 51-year-old is already half way through shooting 'The Takeover', where employees take over the day-to-day running of a company without the aid of their managers.

RTE was said to be "impressed" with a pilot for the show, filmed last year, in which staff at Dublin bakery Tea Time Express took over the running of the factory and implemented a marketing campaign.

Unfortunately, those efforts were unsuccessful and the company, which had been in business since 1938, closed in December last year, with the loss of 30 jobs.

And, the format, developed by Louth-based Toto Productions, could go international. With Sony on board as a distribution partner, the global company plans to sell the idea internationally.

'The Takeover' will air on RTE in March.
