Dallas, alas, is back again
WE HAVE long suspected that we've been beamed back to the Eighties, with the re-emergence of recession and bad government.
Our daily lives are like a rerun of the 1981 Reeling in the Years. Now the final element is with us because Dallas is back on our screens.
A full revival of the decade that taste forgot would be incomplete without some truly bad telly.
Bringing back the Ewings seems strangely fitting right now. We know how Pam Ewing felt in 1986 when she woke up to discover the previous series was a dream, including hubby Bobby's death.
Now that we've woken up from the dream of the Celtic Tiger, we need those capricious oil barons to keep us entertained.
Dust off the shoulder pads because Linda Gray's back, as is her shower-dwelling co-star Patrick Duffy.
Even Larry Hagman (79) is in the remake, reprising his JR Ewing role. It was touch or go for a while as Larry haggled over the script, but finally gave the project his blessing.
So it's going to be good, because if you can't trust JR, who can you trust?
