Celebrity chef can't stand heat in kitchen
CELEBRITY chef Gino D'Acampo has warned TV rivals not to boil wannabe cooks in oil.
With RTE airing the first episode of its 'Masterchef' cooking series last night, the 34-year-old has claimed there's enough heat in the kitchen and there is no need for foodie judges Dylan McGrath and Nick Munier to be needlessly adding to it.
"Cooking is such a pressurised business without more pressure on contestants to perform. What I don't like about these competitions is that there always has to be a winner and a loser.
"As far as I'm concerned, everybody cooking is a winner, and all that pressure can scare people out of the kitchen," D'Acampo told the Irish Independent.
In Dublin to launch the US Food Network channel on UPC, the chef admitted the public don't generally make the dishes they see being prepared on TV.
"The idea is not to teach people how to cook. It's about getting them into the kitchen to do something. Even if one person at home decides they are going to try pasta for the first time, I've succeeded," he said.
