BBC commissions third series of Brendan O’Carroll comedy Mrs Brown’s Boys
BBC bosses have commissioned a third series of hit sitcom Mrs Brown's Boys - before the second has even been screened.
The bawdy show, starring and written by Dublin star Brendan O'Carroll, launched earlier this year.
O'Carroll stars as widow Agnes Brown with his real family also starring in the series which had its roots in a stage show and a series of novels before moving to TV.
The second series begins next month and there will also be a Christmas special.
BBC1 controller Danny Cohen said: "Mrs Brown's Boys is a joyful, laugh-out-loud comedy that I'm delighted to have on BBC1."
O'Carroll said: "What an extraordinary Christmas present. The BBC must be mad.
"To allow us to dress up and play again is an extraordinary gift and we genuinely don't take it lightly."
