BAFTA red carpet goes green as Irish lead the nominations for tonight's ceremony

Published 18/05/2014 | 19:51

The Irish are taking centre stage at tonight's TV BAFTAs.

The most talked about actor of 2014, Jamie Dornan is up for Best Leading Actor for his work in The Fall.

The Down native, who landed the coveted lead of Christian Grey in 50 Shades of Grey, is among the stealthy irish actors battling it out for a statue this evening.

Roscommon's Chris O'Dowd is also up for Best Comedic Performance for his work on The IT Crowd.

And host Graham Norton also features in two different categories, including Best Entertainment Programme and Best Comedy Entertainment Programme.

Trinity College graduate Dominic West is also vying for an award in the Best Actor in a Mini-Series category for his role as Richard Burton in Burton and Taylor, against Dornan in The Fall.
