A French TV host has sparked outrage for sexually assaulting a woman on live TV.
The French gameshow 35 Hours of Baba was trying to set a record for the longest continuous episode by running for 35 hours.
Its host, Cyril Hanouna, set up a skit of the Kim Kardashian robbery in Paris, in which the reality TV star was held hostage and tied up in a bathtub.
He called upon a 21-year-old model called Soraya to play the part of Kim. During a scene-by-scene recreation of the famous jewellery heist, Soraya was "locked up, tied up in the bathtub", and was "saved" by her co-panellist Jean-Michael Maire, who played a locksmith.
Following the bizarre skit, Cyril asked the young model if she would kiss Jean-Michel, to which she replied "no".
Jean-Michel insisted that he deserved a kiss from Soraya as a thanks for his efforts in rescuing her. She declined his offer but her co-panellist tried to imply that she meant "yes". Soraya was then forced to repeat her "no", although more vehemently the second time around.
Then after some back-and-forth between the hosts, Cyrial argued that the "locksmith" will just give the model "a little peck on the cheek". Soraya turned her cheek to oblige but then Jean-Michel suddenly forced a kiss on her breast.
The incident sparked outrage on social media with viewers calling out the host for "sexual assault".
“Sexual assault live on the show of this asshole Hanouna," said one Twitter user.
“Well, the #35HoursOfBaba has switched from disgusting to pathetic and I can’t laugh," added another.
Soraya has already had to say she didn’t want to be kissed — what the other asshole decides to do is kiss her breasts…"
The French government’s Superior Council of Audiovisual (CSA), which regulates radio and television, tweeted that the agency received more 250 complaints about the incident and that they would be investigating it.
