Two men dice with death chasing waves off Wexford

A video of two men dicing with death by chasing waves near a blowhole off Hook Head, County Wexford has been posted on Youtube.
The 18 second clip entitled ‘A close one for men dodging waves during storm’ has already attracted almost 2,000 views.
It shows two men running out towards the Tower Hole near Hook Lighthouse - the world's oldest intact operational lighthouse - during Storm Christine in January, nearly getting engulfed by waves along by the big crevices at the foot of the lighthouse as they run back; with waves lapping up around their feet.
A local resident said storm watchers have flocked to Hook Head in recent weeks to see dramatic tides batter the spectacular coastline.
‘There were a lot of people around during the flooding; generally they are safe but you’ll always get a couple who will take it too far. They were chasing the waves and almost got knocked into the sea. That kind of behaviour can prove fatal.’
The resident said it was so windy on Wednesday when Storm Darwin struck that even the most foolhardy storm watcher didn’t dare go near the coastline for fear of being blown off.
‘There were about ten people but they kept a good distance from the coast standing out on a lane.’
No major structural damage to the lighthouse but some fences nearby were blown down. The lighthouse flickered in the violent wind a bit but it didn’t go out.
