Donald Trump stooped to a new low when he asked a mother of a crying baby to leave the campaign rally.
At the event in Ashburn, the Republican nominee for US president stopped his speech when a baby began to cry.
He first joked about the noise saying "Don't worry about that baby, I love babies."
"I hear that baby crying, I like it!" he said. "Don't worry."
Later in the speech, he changed his mind and said: "Actually, I was only kidding, you can get the baby out of here.
"I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I'm speaking," he added.
There's only room for one big crying baby at a Trump rally.— (((Danielle))) (@abradacabla) August 2, 2016
Apparently that baby Trump got upset at today was an interpreter just doing its job. He doesn't like to hear himself.— marc maron (@marcmaron) August 3, 2016
I think what makes Trump so lovable is that he didn't have that mom with the crying baby shot even tho she should have really taken his hint— John Hodgman (@hodgman) August 2, 2016
The woman and her baby appear to have then left the area.
Later in the rally, another baby cried but Trump ignored the howls and eventually the child calmed down.
Tim Kaine, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, was swift to pick up on Trump’s baby episode, taking a jab at him as he brought up the issue of prekindergarten at a rally in Daytona Beach, Florida.
“I saw that Donald Trump kicked a crying baby out of an event earlier today,” Mr Kaine said, “so as I’m thinking about pre-K, sometimes you wonder who the baby is.”
