Donegal witnessed one of the most spectacular displays of the Northern Lights last night.

Hundreds of people flocked to Inishowen in the north of the county where the lights display is at its best.

The awesome cosmic light show, or the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), set the sky ablaze.

The solar phenomena has been spotted frequently in Donegal, but it can be difficult to predict its occurrence until the night in question.

Astronomy Ireland advises going as far north as you possibly can to view the light show.

Photographer Adam Rory Porter sent us these magnificent shots.
