A Facebook 'get fit quick scheme' has had over 1.4m respondents since it was posted online.

The event is called the '30 Day Ab Challenge' and promises "no negativity!"

Robyn Mendenhall Gardner set up the event, described as "an event we can all do this together (sic) and motivate each other."

Gardner is an ambassador for the website 'Skinny With Pink' which sells Plexus weight loss milkshakes, which Gardner describes as "a LIFE changer for me both for my health, weight and finances".

Gardner says that she created the event "for my own motivation" and that she is not "trying to use this as an avenue to push my Plexus products", adding "I simply want everyone who struggles with exercising and needs a little motivation & inspiration to join me on my journey."

Gardner is looking for users to "post their comments of completion, or post pics or a video".

She adds "LIKE" my page on Facebook and find out about specials, amazing weight loss testimonials, before and after photos, recipes, weight loss tips and contests."

Speaking to Independent.ie, Emma Forsyth from Pilates Plus Dublin warns for those participating to "be careful".

"People could end up hurting themselves, especially crunches and planks. Crunches can strain your neck if your form is not correct - people may not realise they're not supposed to feel it in your neck if they haven't been shown how to do it properly."

She continued "unless you're starting off from quite fit and don't have any extra fat, you're not necessarily going to see massive results", adding "but if it's getting people to do something then it's somewhat positive".

"It's great people want to exercise and, in conjunction with other exercise and a healthy diet, you'll see some results. Just be careful and don't expect miraculous results."

The challenge is due to start on the first of June.
