An autistic child whose birthday was almost ruined when nobody turned up to his party was showered with good wishes and gifts from his caring neighbours who rescued the day.

The mother of six-year-old Glenn Buratti from Osceola Florida sent 16 invites to her son’s birthday party but not one of his classmates turned up.

Ashlee Buratti took to the Osceola’s Rants, Raves and Reviews Facebook page to share her son’s disappointment which prompted the community to help save the little boy’s day.

“I know this might be something silly to rant about, but my heart is breaking for my son,” she wrote.

“We invited his whole class (16 kids) over for his 6th birthday party today. Not one kid came.”

Responses immediately began to flood in as the town’s residents began to send gifts and within a few hours more than 15 children and 25 adults had turned up to celebrate.

One neighbour bought the little boy a new bike and the County Sheriff’s office arranged for a helicopter to fly over the party.

The town’s fire department arranged for Glenn to take a ride in their truck, which was the highlight of his day.

“The amazingness of everybody coming together for someone that they didn’t even know, a kid that didn’t have anybody come to his birthday party – it warmed my heart,” said Glenn’s mum Ashlee.
