Irish blogger recording her baby's birth live on Snapchat from the Coombe Hospital
An Irish woman is giving a blow by blow account of her birth, live on Snapchat today.
Dublin blogger Grace Mongey is sharing snapshots of her labour from the Coombe Hospital in Dublin 8.
Over the past few days, her followers have seen her trying any means possible - even taking the lead from old wives' tales - to induce her labour, like eating pineapple.
Last night, from her home in Dublin, Grace finally told her fans that she'd started having contractions.
"I’ve had about sixteen contractions I’d say… but they’re not sore," she said.
"I definitely think it’s started now."
She immediately took to bouncing on her birth ball and using a pain relieving Tens machine.
“The contractions are strong and really painful but I don’t know if it’s going to get worse than this,” she said a few hours later.
Five hours into the labour, she walked through the doors of the Coombe hospital, equipped with a pillow, hot water bottle and slice of toast.
“Contractions in the car aren’t pleasant,” she joked.
"Fingers crossed when we go in here, we come out with a baby and they don’t send us home”
“I keep thinking they’re going to send me home.”
The mum-to-be later told followers of her Snapchat, FacesbyGrace23, she'd had an epidural and reported the fact that she was feeling well. At around 5.50pm, the mother-to-be reported that she was seven centimetres dialated.
Later, she finally revealed: “Baby Faces entered this world at 22:29pm last night. Weighing a fab 9 pounds 4 and is perfect."
I am keeping #BabyFaces to myself a little longer! Hope you all understand! She can't wait to meet you all tho— FacesByGrace (@FacesByGrace) September 22, 2016
