It was top hats and suspender belts at the ready as Dr Frank-N-Furter and Co took to the stage of the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.

The 2016 tour of Richard O'Brien's cult musical 'The Rocky Horror Show' opened in Dublin last night.

The show runs until October 8 and features classic songs 'Sweet Transvestite', 'Damn It Janet' and, last but not least, 'The Time Warp'.

Richard O'Brien, who presented game show 'The Crystal Maze', wrote the musical in 1973.

'The Rocky Horror Show' tells the story of a young couple, Brad and Janet, who spend the night in the gothic castle of a mad scientist/transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter and his Transylvanian posse.

It has been performed worldwide in over 30 countries in every continent and has been translated into more than 20 languages.
