A new original musical is set for the bright lights of San Diego this summer.

‘Big Shot’, the creation of Dubliner Lauryn Gaffney, has been given a much sought after slot at the famous San Diego Fringe Festival, which takes place from July 23rd to August 2nd 2015.

The production will open its doors in Dublin’s O’Reilly Theatre first, taking to the stage this Thursday the 26th and Friday 27th of February.

According to show’s official Facebook page, 'Big Shot' is a new, fresh, original musical set in New York City, telling the tale of love, justice and living in the moment.

The musical tells the story of New York City's brightest upcoming defence lawyer, Jeremy Crocker. Jeremy's ambition of owning the most successful law firm in the city becomes a real possibility when he finds himself defending an infamous gangster.

Jeremy comes into conflict when he discovers love, struggling to balance the law and the love of his life.

Gaffney (22) says that the idea for the musical came about when she was writing a song and thought that it sounded like it should be for a lawyer.

She managed to write the musical on her lunch breaks during her final year as a student in St. Patrick’s College Drumcondra.

According to Gaffney, "Big Shot" is an exciting example of what can be achieved when you avoid college work at all costs!

Tickets for the show can be purchased online.
