JK Rowling has confirmed a new play, 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' will hit the Palace Theatre in London's West End in summer next year.

Rowling collaborated on the prequel and is co-producting although the script was written by TV writer Jack Thorne while Tony winner John Tiffany will direct.

Back in December 2013 when the project was announced Rowling revealed that it would focus on the early days of HArry Potter, before his arrival at Hogwarts.

The release said the play would "explore the previously untold story of Harry's early years as an orphan and an outcast" and that characters from the book would feature.

The Daily Mail reports that Cursed Child may also offer some insight into the lives of Harry's parents Lily and James Potter before they met their demise at the hands of Lord Voldemort.

Rumours also abound of storylines revolving around Lily and Petunia, Severus Snape, and Remus Lupin.
