Burroughs has been awarded a prestigious Stage Award for Acting Excellence.
The Carlow actor made his debut performance at the annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 'Beowulf: The Blockbuster,' which he also wrote.
Burroughs accepted the coveted award in front of a full house, following his month long run in Beowulf- the only production out of over 3,000 to receive six five star reviews.
Commenting on the award, the actor said:
"I'm delighted to receive the prestigious STAGE Award for Acting Excellence and to be bringing it home to Ireland. It's been a brilliant Festival for all of the Irish Theatre practitioners and the support from and towards each other has been palpable.”
Burroughs has performed in many productions both in Ireland and abroad.
He is also an accomplished director and teaches Physical Theatre at The Lir in Dublin.
Next up, he will take up a role as Movement Director on the award-winning production of Stones in His Pockets, which runs at The Civic Theatre, Tallaght in early September before embarking on a UK tour.
Initially developed as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival, Beowulf: The Blockbuster will undertake a whistle stop tour of Ireland later this year.
