Rory O'Neill's alter ego Pantibliss is used to having a legion of famous followers and this weekend she added two more in the shape of a Corrie barman and Gandalf.

Actor Antony Cotton, who plays barman Sean in Coronation Street and Ian McKellen, who played Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings, went to the drag artist's sold-out show in London on Saturday.

The pair joined the audience in the Soho Theatre for her new stand-up show, High Heels in Low Places.

Cotton's other half Peter Eccleson also attended the show and described the Mayo-born drag artist as "unstoppable".

The comedy show tells the story of Pantigate - the media storm that catapulted Pantibliss to prominence after O'Neill took to the Abbey Theatre stage in character and gave a speech about homophobia in Ireland.

Support

The speech garnered international attention and support poured in to the performer from high-profile people such as Madonna and Stephen Fry.

The show packed venues around Ireland before moving overseas.

Pantibliss's newest fans McKellen and Cotton are also avid campaigners for LGBT rights in the UK and the pair have been friends for almost a decade.

In 2005 McKellen appeared on the Coronation Street cobbles as conman Mel Hutchwright.
