The Apprentice contestants are having a terrible time with Grainne's name

Just who is 'Gran-ya'?
With the news that an Irish contestant called Grainne would be appearing on The Apprentice, we had hoped that British people would finally understand how to pronounce the name properly.
We were wrong.
Make-up studio owner Grainne McCoy (31) is from Newry. She's been working away quietly in the background so far - slipping under the radar at times - but that might be because the other contestants keep calling her 'Granny' and 'Granya' and that's not her name.
She's probably thinking to herself: "Who is this 'Granya' one? Is she new? Did they sneak her in without telling me?"
Irish Twitter users, including Grainne herself, have been getting a great laugh out of it.

To be fair, Irish names can be a real struggle for people who aren't used to the pronounciation. In March, after actor Denis Quaid messed up the pronunciation of Saoirse Ronan’s name at the Golden Globe nominations, TV host Ellen DeGeneres had to clarify the matter for her audience when the Irish star appeared on the show.
“Everyone was saying, ‘how do you pronounce her name’,” said DeGeneres, “It’s spelled S-A-O-I-R-S-E – which makes no sense.”
The chatshow host presented Ronan with a sandwich board to help people on the Golden Globes red carpet pronounce her name. “Hello,” it read. “My name is Sur-Sha”.
Maybe Grainne McCoy needs one of those for The Apprentice?
"Hello, my name is GRAWN-YAH!"
