Some of RTE's top stars have come together in celebration of Mother's Day to film a video about the things their mammies used to say.

Most of them are quips we'll all recognise but one or two may be particular to that family...

Clare Byrne's mother would say, "You can eat that now but when it's gone it's gone."

Meanwhile, Joe Duffy was subject to the dreaded immersion interrogation we're all familiar with.

"Joseph, did you leave the immersion on?  If you did I'll kill ya!" said his mam.

Blathnaid Ni Chofaigh's mother's saying was a little more obscure, "I you don't see me through the week you'll see me through the window."

Blathnaid laughs, "Don't ask me what it means, I still don't know what any of them mean!"
