Weather forecaster Evelyn Cusack came to a sticky end in last night's episode of Celebrity MasterChef.

Evelyn (52) and the other participants were tasked with recreating a sticky toffee pudding by renowned pastry chef Claire Clarke, and a fruity dessert.

Unfortunately, the Met Eireann forecaster's puds failed to rise to the occasion and she was sent home. However, she reckons it was only right because she gave the poorest performance.

"I think it was absolutely the right decision. I was the poorest of the seven who were left. I tried to make autumn fruits tart. That was all right, it wasn't the best.

"But where I really fell was we had this pastry chef over and we had to reproduce her demonstration.

"That didn't go so well. I forgot to put one piece into the fridge and the whole thing collapsed," she told the Herald.

The Co Laois woman reckons Claire was not too impressed with her.

"She just thought I was an idiot, really, and I agreed with her," she said.

Evelyn had little experience with cooking before agreeing to take part in the TV3 show and was not sorry to go.

"The guys in it are really good cooks but I was just chancing my arm. It's not my hobby. I don't cook as a pastime and I never watch cookery programmes.

"I had reached the best of my ability. I was ready to go and it was a big relief."

While Evelyn failed to impress, singer Samantha Mumba was the standout cook of the show.

Claire handed the pop star her business card and said: "If you ever need a job, that's a restaurant dessert right there."
