Voice of Ireland - Pregnant Helena Bradley Bates due in 2 weeks but makes it to semi-final
MUM-TO-BE Helena Bradley Bates is among the eight contestants who will compete in the semi-final of the Voice of Ireland next week.
The expectant mum is due to give birth around the same time as the final, but it didn't stop her stealing the show with her rendition of River Deep Mountain High.
Her mentor Kian Egan saved space in his semi-final team for the 41-year-old Wexford woman.
She will be joined on stage next week by Emma Humber, John Bonham, Kieran McKillop and Sarah McTernan.
Dunnes worker Patrick Donoghue from Team Una also made the cut as did Denise Morgan and John Sheehy.
Donoghue, from Donneycarney on Dublin's northside, received a huge boost from Bressie after he sang his version of Paloma Faith's Only Love Can Hurt.
"If one of my team don't win I'd be very happy to see you win," Bressie told him.
Last night's competition marked the first live knock-out stage of the competition and was the first time that the acts faced the public vote.
It was the end of the road for an act from each of the four teams.
Kayleigh Cullinan, Fionn Gardener, Niall O'Halloran and Paddy Kennedy were all knocked out.
In next week's semi-final, there will be no more teams, the eight contestants will go head to head for a place in the final to win a Universal Music recording contract.
Last night previous winner Brendan McCahey returned to the Helix to perform his new single Safe and Well.
