Viewers outraged as Celebrity Big Brother airs Angie Bowie's reaction to news of David Bowie's death
Viewers of Celebrity Big Brother have accused Channel 5 of exploiting David Bowie's death to boost ratings by broadcasting footage of Angie Bowie reacting to the news of the singer's death.
The American-Cypriot former model, who is appearing in Celebrity Big Brother, was seen breaking down in tears in front of the cameras as she reacted to the news of her ex-husband's death, hours after the rest of the world.
Angie held her head in her hands as she mourned the "end of an era".
Monday's episode featured events from Sunday in the Big Brother House plus the new footage as part of a preview for Tuesday's show.
“I haven't seen him in so many years I can't make a big drama about it,” she said moments after learning that her husband of 10 years had died. “But I feel an era has ended.”
“It's so very sad," she added. "Stardust has gone.”
Can't believe CBB are going to show the moment Angie Bowie is told of David's death. Really is nothing off limits. Disgusted!!!— elizabeth kendal (@lizzyb63) January 11, 2016
C5's decision to show Angie Bowie's reaction to the news of the death of her ex-husband, for entertainment purposes, is indefensible. #CBB— Rich Kemp (@mrrkkemp) January 11, 2016
The couple split in 1980 after 10 years of marriage. They had one son, Duncan Zowie Haywood Jones (44).

Bowie wrote the songs The Prettiest Star, Golden Years and Cracked Actor about her, and later said of her: "She has as much insight into the human condition as a walnut and a self-interest that would make Narcissus green with envy."
Although producers said she had been informed of the singer's death in private, viewers accused Channel 5 of using her grief in a "shameful" bid for ratings.

Thousands took to social media to express their outrage.
Earlier a spokesman said Ms Bowie had been told of her former husband's death off camera and had been given the option to leave.
"Following the very sad news of David Bowie's death, we can now confirm that Angie Bowie has been informed off camera by her representatives.
"She has taken the decision to continue in the programme.
"The decision to remain in the house is entirely her choice, and she has been given the option to leave at any time if she changes her mind.
"Appropriate support will be available to Angie at any time if needed.”
