Speaking about the launch of the new series, Mary Curtis, UTV Ireland’s Head of Channel, said: “Daniel and Majella are hugely popular with Irish audiences and they are a fantastic couple who complement each other perfectly. Throughout the show, we will get to know them better as a couple, whilst seeing them as we have never seen them before. Their warm and fun personalities make them ideal hosts for this series. We are delighted to be welcoming Daniel and Majella to the UTV Ireland schedule and I think this series will resonate w

UTV Ireland is causing a stir among Irish B&B landladies with their new six-part TV reality show.

The show, set to start filming next month, sees Daniel O'Donnell and wife Majella touring Ireland and staying at various B&Bs across the country.

UTV Ireland and the production company have revealed they have been swamped with applications from eager guest house owners and Daniel fans desperate to have the Donegal crooner come to stay.

It's reminiscent of the Father Ted episode 'Night of the Nearly Dead' when singer Eoin McLove (inspired by Daniel O'Donnell) visits Craggy Island and draws a throng of zombified female fans in his wake.

The happy couple recently revealed that fans tried to steal the sheets from the bed they slept in on their wedding night.

They made the revelation when they were asked if fans might want to steal mementos from the B&Bs they stay in for the new show.

"I think that happened after our wedding, somebody came to the hotel and said could they have the sheets. I don't know if they got them," said Majella.

The series will broadcast in October and has already been picked up in the US.

Daniel said he hopes it will strike a chord with viewers at home and abroad.

He said, "There'll be people tuning in who don't know anything about me, but might watch a show about a couple touring Ireland, showing off what they feel is good about Ireland."
