UTV Ireland pans rumours of reality show featuring stars of Tallafornia, The Valleys, and Geordie Shore
UTV Ireland has slammed reports that it will launch with a reality show mash-up featuring stars from Tallafornia, The Valleys, and Geordie Shore.
Several reports this weekend suggested that Tallafornia stars Phil Penny and Nikita Murray would be joined by Callum Best and a bevy of other outrageous reality stars for a Dublin-based show which would see them tour Ireland's nightclubs.
"It's not the situation," said a spokesperson for UTV Ireland.
"Our commissioning process doesn't start until the station launches in January, with the odd show planned to go ahead next year but, no, that is not going ahead.
"The commissioning and reviewing process is for independent producers/productions companies. We are open to a range of ideas but the process won’t begin until UTV Ireland launches in January."
Speaking at the launch of the station's green and yellow UTV Ireland logo, UTV Television managing direction Michael Wilson said, "We will commission programmes which reflect the people and culture of the Irish audience UTV Ireland aims to serve.
"We are looking for programmes that will be high in public service value – focusing on areas such as lifestyle, the environment, culture, history and people.
"We want content of and from Ireland that will entertain and inform, and engage with the audience.”
