'This year's Operation Transformation celebs guarantee fireworks' - Kathryn Thomas
All the celebrities have been picked for the new series of Operation Transformation, the Herald can reveal.
The hit of RTE's 2016 autumn schedule has been signed up for another run this September, with filming due to begin in August.
This time around, presenter Kathryn Thomas said, there will be some real larger-than-life characters taking part.
This year's show will air for a longer run, going from three weeks to four as the public get a bird's-eye view of the contestants' weight-loss journeys.
"We had our meeting last week so all the celebrities have been confirmed," she said. "I think it's going to be a brilliant show. I think there's going to be fireworks. There's some big personalities going in there, bigger than last year. It's going to be a great mix.
"There's some very outspoken celebrities taking part," she added.
However, she was keeping tight-lipped as to which brave celebrities will be stripping down to their Lycra and stepping on the weighing scales in front of the nation's viewers as they endeavour to shed the pounds.
"I'm sworn to secrecy. Last time I gave a hint and I gave them all away," she said.
Last year's inaugural celebrity version of the show starred Gerald Kean, Elaine Crowley, Karl Spain, Brenda Donohue and Katherine Lynch.
Most of them have managed to keep themselves looking trim since appearing on the show.
