'The Riordans' actress Ann Rowan has died

Actress Ann Rowan has passed away at the age of 85.

The actress was best known for playing Julia Mac in the RTE soap The Riordans.

The Riordans was set in the fictional townland of Leestown in Co. Kilkenny and ran from 1965 to 1979. Ann appeared in the soap until it was cancelled.

She also starred in many other TV productions including Ulysses, Fair City, two episodes of Father Ted, and movies including The Love She Sought and Troubles.

Ann passed away on Sunday August 10 following a short illness and is survived by her two sisters, nieces, and nephews.
