The Great British Bake Off drops bombshell about the show's technical challenge
Everything you thought you knew about the Great British Bake Off's technical challenge is a lie.
The technical challenge aims to separate the good from the great. Contestants are laid out bare in this task as the challenge sometimes proves to be a bit too technical and difficult for the tent's amateur bakers.
From jaffa cakes to dampofnudel, the technical treats are always a pleasure to observe for the viewers watching at home. We've marvelled at the precise and professional bakes created from Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry's recipes.
But despite the show giving us the impression that the two judges spent hours making them behind-the-scenes, when they present the pre-baked treats to the cameras, it's actually the first time they've laid eyes on the creations.
Bake Off bosses hire home economics experts to bake the technical creations while Mary and Paul get their hair and make-up done.
An insider told the Sun on Sunday: "Mary and Paul have never made a single cake in the tent.
"Paul in particular often talks about what 'we' have done, so it will come as a shock to fans."
A spokesperson from Love Productions added: "Paul and Mary don't make the cakes. They never have. They are baked on the day and Paul and Mary could never do that."
Indeed, they have just been feeding us one delicious lie.
The Great British Bake Off final airs this Wednesday on BBC1 at 8pm.
