MasterChef may be absent from the RTE autumn schedule due to lack of sponsorship, but TV3 aims to fill the culinary telly void with a new cookery show.
‘Home Cook’s Academy’, hosted by Angeline Ball, will traverse the country in search of Ireland's best home cook heroes.
The series aims to bring non-cooks, who have never learned the basics of cooking, back to the kitchen to to learn dishes, not from professional chefs, but from the country's best home cooks.
The programme makers have scoured the country and recruited home cooks to teach the cookery phobics how to tackle dishes ranging from beef & Guinness stew to lasagne and bacon and cabbage.
Each episode will see two home cooks sharing their recipes with two non-cooks, people who have confessed to burning down kitchens and even accidentally poisoning family members.
TV3 has secured sponsorship from SafeFood and Tesco for the series.
