Sybil Mulcahy: 'I get more work since TV3 redundancy'

Broadcaster Sybil Mulcahy has said she's busier than ever since becoming a freelancer.
The presenter (41) took redundancy from TV3 in February after working with them for 16 years, but she still works on some of the station's most popular shows.
"I'm back on Xpose, Ireland AM and Midday so I'm across three different shows now," she told the Herald.
"I'm still freelance but I'm there a lot - as much as I want to be. I haven't extracted myself from TV3 just yet.
"I don't know, I suppose it's because I can do so many of the shows there that I'm handy to have for cover."
Although she may no longer be a member of staff at the Ballymount-based channel, Sybil is more than happy with the arrangement because it means she has more freedom to work on a range of productions.
"It's actually nicer now because I can be on more shows than I was before.
"When I was on Midday before it was great, but now it's nice to be able to dip into Ireland AM and Xpose, so I'm not tied down at all," she said.
"It works for me really well."

Along with being happy in her new freelance role, Sybil said she's grown more comfortable with being on screen, even if she isn't dolled up to the nines.
After working in television for over a decade, the mum-of-three has no issue with not looking picture-perfect in the studio from time to time.
"I'm not as bothered anymore, I'm more like 'Take me for how I am' and I think people know me at this stage anyway," she said.
"Not everyone can look good everyday and I'm not one of the glamorous ones, but the older you get the more you're OK with that."
However, the Dublin woman - who was yesterday revealed as the Irish face for anti-aging beauty range Skin Boosters from Juliette Armand - wasn't always so easy going.
"Of course, [the pressure to look good] used to get to me years ago.
"When I was on Xpose initially I really would have tried my best to look good all the time, and when I was presenting the Morning Show with Martin King I would always be sure to have a different outfit on every day," Sybil said.
"These days, even with being back on Xpose, I don't check myself constantly before the camera actually starts."
