Filming for the third season of The History Channel series 'Vikings' is underway in Wicklow.
Viking long boats populated with key cast and extras were spotted on Blessington Lake on Tuesday.
Travis Fimmel, who plays leading character Ragnar Lothbrok, smoked a cigarette as filming took place aboard one of the boats.
It looks like the third season will be just as bloody as the previous two as fake, bloodied bodies were strung from trees by the lakeside.
The first two series of ‘Vikings’ were shot at Ashford Studios in Co. Wicklow, with more than 400 Irish people involved in production.
Several past IFTA-winners are counted among the cast and crew including director Ciarán Donnelly (The Tudors, Titanic: Blood and Steel); production designer Tom Conroy; costume designer Joan Bergin; and make-up and hair designers Tom McInerney and Dee Corcoran.
Gabriel Byrne, John Kavanagh, and David Pearse are amongst the Irish actors who have appeared in the series so far.
'Vikings' season 2 was the History Channel's most popular show whilst the first series averaged 189,000 viewers in Ireland for the first eight episodes.
The third season of 'Vikings' is slated for broadcast in early 2015.
