Donald Trump took to Twitter to reignite his feud with Fox News host Megyn Kelly.

Trump, currently the Republican presidential frontrunner, caused controversy recently when he implied Megyn had her period after she grilled him on live TV.

The Fox-televised first Republican debate saw Megyn question him on his prior use of phrases like "fat pigs" and "disgusting animals" when describing women.

He said she "had blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever".

His comments were condemned by the other Republic candidates.

However, now he has taken another pop at the 44-year-old presenter who had just returned to her show on Monday after a break, by tweeting that she "must have had a terrible vacation" because "she's really off her game".

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has described Trump's attack on Megyn "disturbing" and requested an apology.

In a statement read on the channel he said Megyn "represents the very best of American journalism and all of us at Fox News Channel reject the crude and irresponsible attempts to suggest otherwise.

Kelly's colleague Bret Baier tweeted "this needs to stop".
