Sharon Osbourne, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh set for Irish X Factor auditions at Croke Park
Sharon Osbourne will be kept under the wing of Louis Walsh when she flies to Dublin in July for the new series of X Factor in the wake of her current marriage troubles.
The Sunday World can exclusively reveal that the X Factor auditions are returning to Ireland for the first time in six years and will be held in Croke Park on July 1.
Also joining Simon Cowell, Louis and Sharon will be Nicole Scherzinger. This will be the first time a major X Factor audition is held in Ireland since NiallHoran and Mary Byrne were discovered here back in 2010.
Louis last night spoke for the first time about his return to the X Factor when he confirmed to the Sunday World: “I’ve signed a new contract. I’m back, I’m signed and I want an Irish act. I want them to be really good and I want them to make the final.
“I’m going to do lots of TV in England and I’m really excited about finding new talent in Ireland. We start auditions in Cardiff in June and then I’m really looking forward coming to Croke Park on July 1.”
Louis was axed by SimonCowell last year after 20 years on the show, but critics and viewers hit out at the move and ratings plummeted.
“The viewers wanted me back and I’m thrilled to be back,” chirped Louis.
Also thrilled, no doubt,is Louis’s bank manage as the Mayoman is set to reap a cool €1.3million to do another series, which will be added to his estimated €30m fortune.
Former Pussycat Dolls starNicole had signed for Cats in Broadway, but she has now left the show to do X Factor.
Both Nicole and Sharon last featured on the X Factor back in 2013, with Nicole completing her second season on the show.
Their return comes in the wake of the exit of a trio of judges from last year – Rita Ora, Nick Grimshaw and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini.
Sharon (63), was one of the original judges when the series first started in2004, alongside Simon and Louis.
Her 33-year marriage has been hit by rumours that husband Ozzy Osbourne (67) had an affair with hairstylist Michelle Pugh (45).
Sharon earlier this week spoke on American TV about her stand-off with the Black Sabbath singer.
“He’s back and I’m out of the house. I’m not with him, but I speak to him, sure. I love Ozzy dearly. He’s given meanunbelievable life. He’s given me three gorgeous children,” she said.
Asked whether they could patch up their marriage, she replied: “At this point today I’ve no idea what I’m going to be doing with the rest of my life. I just need time to think. I’m 63 years of age and I can’t keep living like this.”
She added that she had avoided reading reports about her marital problems because it was “like putting salt in the wound”.
Sharon then went back to their €5m Beverly Hills home to have a serious talk with Ozzy.
The couple appeared in pu blic together for
the first time since news of their split was reported when they were pictured on Thursday.
