Sharon Osbourne addresses 'drunk' X Factor claims
Sharon Osbourne has denied claims she was drunk on Saturday night's The X Factor.
The 64-year-old music manager hit headlines with her hilarious behaviour on the ITV talent show over the weekend. However, as she appeared on her U.S. chat show The Talk on Tuesday, Sharon hit back at allegations she had been under the influence of alcohol.
"Why is it while you’re there and you’re having fun and you’re being silly, do you have to be drunk?" Sharon said. "It’s entertainment and it goes out late on a Saturday night."
Sharon also said being with her fellow panellists Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Nicole Scherzinger influences her behaviour, adding: "I'm there with bestest - Nicole Scher-linger-linger... She’s funny. She’s naughty and you have fun."
Viewers took to Twitter in droves to comment on Sharon's behaviour on Saturday's show, with Ozzy Osbourne's wife appearing overly animated, flirting with the younger male acts, getting the nationality of Finnish contestant Saara Aalto wrong and missing her cue on several occasions. In addition, she referenced Nicole's breasts when she said she was trying to avoid the former Pussycat Dolls star exposing herself on live television.
However, her The Talk co-star Sara Gilbert joked that if Sharon had actually been drunk, it would have been a very different story.
"I've been with Sharon drunk and she wouldn't be covering the girl’s boob, she’d be exposing them," Sara laughed. Host Julie Chen added: "Trust me, we've been out with Sharon when she’s been tipsy, you’ll know!"
The X Factor host Dermot O'Leary referenced the claims about Sharon's behaviour on Sunday night's results show, telling the audience: "Despite what some reports are saying all the judges drank backstage was water. It was just high spirits. Those spirits being vodka, gin and whisky!"
Sharon didn't seem offended by the jibe however, giggling alongside her fellow judges.
