RTE targets millennials with 'Sex and the City meets The Hills' show featuring Irish social media stars in New York
RTE is gearing up to make a new show filmed in New York and starring some of Ireland's biggest social media stars.
The broadcaster is trying to target the lucrative millennial market with its new offering, Making It In Manhattan.
It has assembled some of the country's best-known bloggers to feature in the show, which it describes as an "aspirational series".
Among them are model and blogger Louise Cooney and lifestyle blogger Erika Fox, who between them have 140,000 followers.
The glamorous girls will be part of a cast who will be filmed as they try to make a name for themselves in the Big Apple.
The publicity blurb for the show describes it as a mixture between Sex And The City and The Hills.
"This show is an ultimate feel-good, guilty pleasure," it reads.
"Follow the cast as they adorn some of Manhattan's most glamorous locations for both work and pleasure."
The show, which is being made for RTE Player, will feature six episodes and is a clear attempt to create more digital content.
