Entertainment Weekly reports that the upcoming finale on ABC, airing May 10, will be the end of the entire series.

“We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story,” executive producer Sunil Nayar told the magazine.

“We’ve been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end.

"This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks.”

The show has been on the air since 2011 and fans had suspected the end was nigh as Emily recently came close to exacting her ultimate revenge.

However, she's now languishing in prison, framed for murder, so it will be interesting to see how the writers have handled the series end.

However, Nayar also told EW that there will be a "cliffhanger" in the series finale, which is called 'Two Graves'.

Revenge has proven a big hit with Irish audiences, attracing an average audience of 200,000 viewers per episode on RTE2 and the channel has confirmed it will broadcast the season finale as an dramatic double bill on Tuesday 19 May.
