Revealed: IFTA Television Awards nominees 2016

The full list of the IFTA Gala Television Awards nominees has been revealed.

There are 24 categories in the Television Awards, ranging from programme genres to behind-the-scenes work.

50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy, Brendan O’Connor’s Cutting Edge, The Imelda May Show and The Seven O’Clock Show will compete in the entertainment category, while Fair City, Red Rock and Ros na Run will battle for Best Irish Soap.

Sharon Horgan is nominated for Best Female Performance for her role in Catastrophe, alongside Andrea Irvine (Red Rock), Jane McGrath (Red Rock), Aisling O’Neill (Fair City) and Jennifer Zamparelli (Bridget and Eamon).

Red Rock’s Sean Mahon is nominated for Best Male Performance for his role as Brian McGonigle, as is his co-star Patrick Ryan, Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll, Fair City’s Karl Shiels and Hardy Bucks’ Chris Tordoff.

RTE landed two nominations in the current affairs category for Claire Byrne Live – Leaders’ Debate and RTE Investigates – Standards in the Public Office, with The People’s Debate on TV3 and BBC NI Spotlight: Selling Northern Ireland also being nominated.

The IFTA Gala Television Awards will take place on October 7th.
