Rachel McAdams 'to play female lead' in True Detective with Colin Farrell
The Notebook actress Rachel McAdams is reportedly in talks with True Detective bosses about landing a part in the second series.
This week it was confirmed that Irish actor Colin Farrell nabbed a lead in the cult HBO series, alongside McAdams' Wedding Crashers co-star Vince Vaughn.
According to Deadline and Variety, the 35-year-old star is up for playing an indulgent sheriff called Ani Bezzerides in the second season of the show, taking place in California.
HBO have yet to confirm the third cast member, but Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss' name has also been thrown into the mix.
The second series will follow "three police officers and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder", according to the network.
While the first season was directly solely by Emmy winner Cary Fukanaga, the new run will likely make use of multiple directors. No one has been confirmed as yet, but William Friedkin and The Fast and the Furious’ Justin Lin are among rumoured names.
Production on True Detective 2 is scheduled to begin later this month.
