Poorly Holly Willoughby's cat pays the price as she misses This Morning

By Lucy Mapstone

There’s a moggy somewhere not feeling so great.

Holly Willoughby was forced to pull out of hosting This Morning after being so unwell she was sick on her cat.

The regular presenter of the ITV programme was absent from Monday’s episode and the show’s showbiz reporter Rylan Clark-Neal was drafted in at the last minute to replace her alongside Phillip Schofield.

At the start of the episode, Phillip revealed his co-star for the show was Rylan before explaining why Willoughby, 36, was not there.

Laughing, he told viewers: “The best thing about this – obviously get well soon – but you know the cat she’s got that is peeing on all the sofas? She texted me this morning and said ‘I’ve got up and I’ve just been sick on the cat’.

“I just texted her back and I said, ‘well it had that coming!’”

Rylan said: “I hope the cat’s all right.”

Phillip, 55, also bemoaned the height difference between himself and Rylan and sat on a cushion on the sofa to raise him a few inches to his taller co-host’s eye level.

“You’ve already unnerved me,” Phillip said while joking they were an “unlikely pairing”.

Rylan, 28, quipped: “Phillip Schofield and an X Factor reject, welcome to the end of This Morning.”

Despite the last-minute change, viewers seemed delighted with the duo, who fell into presenting together easily with plenty of witty banter.

One This Morning fan wrote on Twitter: “Oh @Schofe and @Rylan are literally the Monday dream team #ThisMorning.”

Another said: “Loving This Morning with @Rylan. He’s hilarious. Really enjoying the banter! @Schofe #ThisMorning.”

A third shared a similar senitment, writing: “Loving the @Rylan and @Schofe combination this morning! #ThisMorning #MondayMorning #cheersmeup.”

One tweeter described them as a “dangerous duo” in a post along with several laughing emojis.
