Peter Andre and Daniel O'Donnell are set to team up for a TV special after becoming good friends during their stint on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.

"Daniel is a diamond of a man," said Peter Andre to the Irish Daily Mail.

"He really brought warmth to Strictly and when he left, it wasn't the same.

"When we were rehearsing on Strictly I just turned around and said to him: 'My house is always open to you while you're here.'"

The Australian star revealed that the two stayed in touch and arranged to work together.

"He asked me to join him on a TV special but I couldn't due to scheduling conflicts. We're hoping to do it in 2016 instead. I'll come over to Ireland. We're working on that. I love him - he's just great and a true Irish gentleman."

The celebrity contestants on Strictly Come Dancing have formed a WhatsApp messaging group that is still active.

Daniel still receives requests from fellow contestants to send on clips of himself singling lullabies.

“When they’ve had a stressful day, he’ll sing a little verse of a song to the group or they say ‘just going to bed now Daniel, sing us a song’ and he’ll sing a lullaby, it’s funny,” his wife Majella told the Herald last month.

Peter also told the Mail that he attempted to introduce the Irish star to social media but the 53-year-old declined his offer.

"I tried to set him up on Twitter but he said that being on WhatsApp was enough."
