Sharon Osbourne lashed out at someone who invaded the stage while she was accepting an award on stage in Los Angeles.

Osbourne was part of the group on stage accepting an award for the American panel show, The Talk, that she co-hosts, at the 42nd annual People's Choice Awards.

A member of the audience jumped on stage and hijacked the microphone as Osbourne's fellow panelist, Sara Gilbert, thanked voters for naming them favourite daytime TV hosting team.

The random punter tried to promote his music album, but was stopped short as Osbourne kicked him.

One of her Talk co-hosts, Sheryl Underwood, also intervened by grabbing back the microphone.

She referenced the presenter who caused controversy by announcing the wrong winner of Miss Universe recently, saying: "You ain't going to pull no Steve Harvey up in here", and then called on security to remove the young man off stage.

The American award ceremony honours stars from entertainment and popular culture and is voted for by the public.

The evening also saw Vin Diesel pay an emotional tribute to his late co-star Paul Walker.

The actor and producer remembered Walker as he accepted two awards for the movie Furious 7.

Diesel choked back tears as he accepted the awards for favourite movie and favourite action movie, before launching into the opening lines of Wiz Khalifa's See You Again.

Ellen DeGeneres brought her total to a record-tying 17 People's Choice wins when she picked up the trophy for favourite daytime TV host and a special award for favourite humanitarian.

The humanitarian award was presented by Spy star Melissa McCarthy who picked up two awards herself - both favourite comedic movie actress and comedic TV actress.

She informed the audience that DeGeneres has raised more then 50 million dollars (£34 million) for charity, although DeGeneres downplayed her achievement as she joked: "This is crazy - so, so deserved, but crazy."

She added: "It's a little strange to get an award for being nice and generous and kind, which is what we're all supposed to do with one another, that's the point of being a human.

"Would I call myself the Mother Teresa of talk shows, the Dalai Lama of daytime? No, but I'm sure someone out there has."

Other big winners were Sandra Bullock, who picked up favourite movie actress using her son's imaginary acceptance speech as inspiration, and Johnny Depp, who took home favourite dramatic movie actor.

The audience enjoyed a steamy performances from Jason Derulo and a more sedate set from favourite breakout artist winner Shawn Mendes.

The awards show was hosted by Glee star Jane Lynch.
