Pauline McLynn launches RTE show to discover Ireland's most talented artist
Pauline McLynn is swapping her teapot for a paintbrush as she takes centre stage in her own RTE show.
The Mrs Doyle star, who has a BA in History of Art, will be hosting a competition to help discover new talent in the Irish art world.
Entitled Painting The Nation, the show sees McLynn travelling the country as she tries to “uncover and celebrate the nation’s unheralded artists”.
Seven amateur artists in several mediums will eventually be chosen for the shortlist, and they battle it out to win the competition outright. The champion will have their work permanently displayed in a public place.
McLynn said she was “really excited” to be involved in the show.
“We’re looking for passion mixed with real talent, and I would encourage amateur painters out there who think they have what it takes to apply to be part of the show,” she said.
Produced by Independent Pictures, filming is due to take place next month.
