Old rivals flared again last night as The Voice of Ireland returned to our screens with a bang.

Bressie was the only judge who was left with no contestants on his team after rival Kian Egan scuppered him.

The former Blizzards star turned his chair for three acts but Westlife's Kian Egan managed to nab all three singers for his own team.

The pair have enjoyed a fierce rivalry since the show began, though former boyband star Kian has insisted that they are friends backstage.

Meanwhile, 2015 winner Una Foden enjoyed a strong start to this year's competition.

Last year she was victorious over the other three stars with contestant Patrick Donoghue winning the show and securing a recording contract with Universal.

Una looks set to be a strong choice again as she nabbed singer Johnny Kolmeyher after his rendition of Somebody Like You.

Johnny, has experience on TV, having competed on the UK counterpart before falling ill.

The 2FM wildcard had to have a cancerous limp removed from his throat but has vowed to make the most of his recovery.
