Netflix dominates Emmy nominations with 31 nods across five programmes

Netflix dominates Emmy nominations with 31 nods across five programmes, three of which are Netflix originals.

House of Cards received 13 nominations including the much coveted Outstanding Drama Series whilst Orange is the New Black received 12 nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Leading stars of both shows - Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright Penn, and Taylor Schilling - landed nods for Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress.

Netflix original documentary The Square, about the Egyptian revolution, earned four nominations whilst Ricky Gervais' show Derek and Brave Miss World earned one nomination each.

Those in the running for one of the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards were announced by The Voice host Carson Daly and The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling at the Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood this morning.

Game of Thrones was the show which garnered most nominations with 19, followed by Fargo with 18, American Horror Story: Coven with 17 and Breaking Bad with 16.

House of Cards is up against Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, True Detective, Downton Abbey, and Mad Men for Outstanding Drama Series.
