Meet the Irish model tipped to win Italian Celebrity Big Brother
An Irish model is being tipped as the favourite to win the Italian version of Celebrity Big Brother.
Alessia Macari (23) from Dublin is one of the final contestants of this year's reality TV series and is being tipped to win.
The up-and-coming star grew up in Ireland but spent her summers in Italy before making a permanent move there two years ago.
Before she entered the house, Alessa was already a familiar face with Italian TV audiences. She was selected to star in Italian nightly quiz show, Avanti Un Altro after being spotted in a local beauty paegent in 2013.
Since then she has seen her star on the rise and is now the second-favourite to win the Big Brother in her parents' home country.
Alessia's family own the Macari chipper empire in Ireland and her cousin is luxury swimwear designer and former Dublin Housewives star, Virginia Macari. The Big Brother star is also the ex-girlfriend of Republic of Ireland and Newcastle defender Ciaran Clarke, whom she dated briefly when she was 18.
The reality TV contestant has been making references to her famous ex during her time in the house and confessed to her fellow housemates that they still keep in touch through social media.
Some cynical viewers have accused the aspiring TV star of using her ex's famous name for attention but her mother Lisa told the Sun newspaper that her daughter's feelings for her ex-boyfriend are genuine, although they would never consider getting back together.
"Meeting him did have a big impact on Alessia because she was very young at the time. He is definitely someone she thinks about a lot. But I am sure she will get over it," she said.
While in the house, the model shared a kiss with former Italian footballter Stefano Bettarini.
The Big Brother final takes place this weekend.
