'Maybe it was a bit more night-time rather than a daytime broadcast' - RTE weather woman Nuala Carey weighs in on #sweatergate
She’s one of Ireland’s bestknown weather girls, and when it comes to dressing for the small screen Nuala Carey likes to keep it traditional.
The RTE presenter had her say after a video of a US weather presenter who was asked to cover-up live on air went viral.
KTLA Los Angeles’ Liberte Chan was handed a cardigan by a male colleague who told her the station had received several emails from viewers who could see through her dress.
The incident provoked a storm of complaints branding the incident as sexist, but Chan insisted she was not in the least offended by her colleague’s actions as he was trying to save her blushes.
“I’d be presenting weather at 9.30 in the morning, so I wouldn’t dress like that,’’ Nuala told the Herald.
“The girl’s dress was very cocktail-like. She looked well, but maybe it was a bit more night-time rather than for a daytime broadcast.’’
Speaking at the launch of the annual Brennan’s Bloomsday Messenger Bike Rally in aid of the Irish Youth Foundation, Nuala said she never gets negative feedback from viewers, but they do call in to find out where she buys her outfits.
