He's one of the most famous men on Irish TV, but Marty Whelan said his children have no interest in following in his footsteps.

The Winning Streak star (60) is dad to Jessica and Thomas, who seem to have decided that a life in the limelight is not for them.

Although Thomas has a job with popular Dublin radio station 98fm, Marty admitted that his son doesn't want to carve out a career on the small screen.

"Thomas is involved in marketing and event management and he's working with 98fm," Marty told the Herald.

"I don't think he wants to present to be honest."

Meanwhile, his daughter Jessica works as a school teacher and has also shown no interest in following her dad into showbiz.

"They are happy enough to do their own thing which is wonderful," he said.

"With the teaching thing, you'll never be rich but please God, you will have a proper, permanent job which is a wonderful thing."
