'Married at First Sight' bride Jessica Castro appears to have filed a protection order against her groom, Ryan De Nino, just days after the show finale.

The couple met on the second season of the US show, which sees total strangers meet and marry each other on TV, and married in December, having just met that day.

Their relationship has been tumultuous on screen, erupting in regular screaming matches, but they decided to stick together and the show followed them over six weeks as they married, went on honeymoon, and moved in together.

However, in an Instagram post on Saturday De Nino revealed that Castro filed a protection order against him at the court of New York.  The order is designed to "limit the behaviour or someone who harms or threatens to harm another person".

"Unfortunately this isn't something I'd wish on anyone," he wrote, adding "This is another fact here's the order of protection- which had me in awe and when I read it was disgusted.

"Bash me all you want, say whatever it is about me just remember this board don't break for nada. Why I posted this will be thoroughly explained when the times right. #CheckMate"

TMZ claims Castro made the filing after her husband allegedly threatened: 'I plan on killing you and your family.'

Castro has not commented but has been posting cryptic Instagram messages, including, "There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise."
